Men Prepare For Speedboat Ride On Beautiful Summer Day Amid — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1962, this vintage home movie captures a sunny summer day at a lakeside in Illinois. A small motorboat rests at the edge of the water near a sandy shore, with people gathered nearby. In the distance, a sailboat glides across the blue lake under a partly cloudy sky, while a wooden dock floats on the water. The scene exudes classic Americana nostalgia, with natural film grain and color fading characteristic of Super 8 footage.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Suits documentary and editorial requests for early 1960s American summer leisure, lakeside recreation, or Midwest Americana sequences.
Period detail: Motorboat hull style and figures in summer attire are consistent with early 1960s recreational boating; no visible model markings to independently confirm the exact year.
Home-movie behavior: Unstaged figures preparing to board a motorboat on what appears to be a personal summer outing, recorded from the shoreline with no composed framing.
What appears in frame: A light-hulled motorboat at the water's edge, two or three adult figures in summer dress, calm open lake water, full-canopy deciduous trees, white sailboats in the distance, a floating dock platform, and a partly cloudy sky.
Film character: 8mm color film with visible frame vignetting, a mild blue-green cast across the lake mid-tones, and soft grain consistent with aged reversal stock scanned from original film.
Edit role: Functions as an establishing cutaway for summer leisure sequences or a memory-beat insert in documentary timelines covering postwar American recreational culture.
Historical context: Recreational boating spread rapidly across Midwestern inland lakes in the postwar decades; this scene reflects mid-century leisure patterns common to Illinois lake communities.
Research note: Multiple adults are visible in all frames; Illinois attribution derives from original film metadata and should be verified independently; no talent or property releases are on file.
Research search match: Useful for searches covering 1960s lakeside summer footage, Midwest recreational boating, American family leisure on water, or vintage home-movie lake scenes.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other clips from this source reel; then with 1960s Illinois or Midwest lake material; then with early 1960s American summer or motorboating sequences.
