Los Angeles California USA-1962: Three Men Training Dolphins in Pool at Marineland

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

This clip supports 1960s editorial requests for visitor-shot marine park entertainment, dolphin training, and mid-century leisure in Southern California.

Period detail

The visible Marineland sign, uniformed trainers, wet show platform, and color 8mm look support the supplied 1962 Los Angeles-area marine park context.

Home-movie behavior

The camera watches from a distant visitor angle, preserving the casual home-movie view of a dolphin routine rather than a staged production setup.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include three trainers, a dolphin in blue pool water, a wet concrete platform, props, a red wall, potted plants, and the Marineland sign.

Film character

The footage has saturated 8mm color, visible grain, soft focus, slight gate edges, and a steady but amateur framing typical of scanned home movies.

Edit role

An editor could use this as an insert, cutaway, or memory beat for mid-century tourism, animal performances, or Los Angeles-area leisure culture.

Historical context

The scene documents a public marine park performance environment where trainers cue a dolphin for spectators in the early 1960s.

Research note

People and the Marineland sign are visible, so likeness, trademark, and venue-identification review may be needed separately from footage copyright.
