Old Motel Sign With Motel Building Behind — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1958, this vintage home movie captures the Salinda Motel in Las Vegas, Nevada. The footage features a prominent retro sign advertising a heated pool, baby sitters, and rates for two people. Classic American cars are parked along the motel's long, single-story building with a mid-century modern design. The scene, viewed through a film frame, shows a person walking and a light-colored sedan, evoking a nostalgic 1950s roadside travel atmosphere. The image quality is soft with natural film grain and slight color fading, characteristic of Super 8 home movies from the era.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s Las Vegas roadside lodging, motel travel, and mid-century American car culture inserts in documentary or educational edits.
Period detail: The motel sign, low roadside building, posted pool amenity, and rounded late-1950s automobiles support the 1958 Las Vegas travel setting in the metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has a visitor-shot feel, with handheld framing through film-strip borders as the camera looks from the road toward the motel sign and passing cars.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a roadside motel sign, long single-story motel frontage, parked and passing sedans, a pedestrian, pale desert light, and dark film-frame dividers.
Film character: Soft 8mm color, visible grain, slight fading, uneven exposure, and handheld movement give the scene a period home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short establishing insert, travel transition, roadside cutaway, or memory beat for Las Vegas tourism in the late 1950s.
Historical context: The scene shows automobile-oriented motel lodging with advertised amenities, reflecting the visible roadside travel culture of mid-century Las Vegas.
Research note: Human figures, a named motel sign, and visible commercial signage require review for likeness, trademark, and property context separate from footage copyright.
Research search match: Researchers may search for 1958 Las Vegas 8mm motel sign footage, vintage roadside motel, heated pool sign, classic cars, or mid-century travel home movie.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then other 1958 Las Vegas footage, then broader 1950s roadside motel and classic car travel scenes.
