Resort Pool With Guests Relaxing Under Umbrellas — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1958, this vintage home movie captures a sun-drenched resort pool area in Las Vegas, USA. Guests in period swimwear relax under striped umbrellas and lounge chairs beside a long, rectangular pool. A two-story motel building with a sign reading 'LUX' stands in the background. The footage, viewed through a film gate with visible grain and slight blurriness, shows people strolling and relaxing in a classic mid-century American vacation setting. The warm, faded color palette and casual atmosphere evoke strong nostalgia for 1950s leisure and travel.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s Las Vegas leisure, motel pool, and mid-century American vacation sequences in documentary, museum, education, or period commercial edits.
Period detail: The frames show a low motel building, striped pool umbrellas, lounge chairs, palm trees, and period swimwear consistent with a late-1950s resort setting.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged visitor viewpoint, watching guests sit, walk, and relax around the pool from behind a film-gate or window-like obstruction.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a rectangular swimming pool, lawn, palm trunks, striped umbrellas, lounge chairs, guests in swimwear, a two-story motel facade, and a distant sign.
Film character: Soft 8mm color, visible grain, slight blur, gate edges, and uneven exposure give the footage a physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, travel-memory beat, leisure cutaway, or transition into mid-century Las Vegas resort life.
Historical context: The scene documents casual poolside leisure at a Las Vegas motel or resort, with guests arranged around shared outdoor amenities.
Research note: People and a visible motel sign require likeness, trademark, and location review; copyright clearance is separate from appearance and property considerations.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1958 Las Vegas 8mm resort pool footage, mid-century motel swimming pool, vintage vacation home movie, and 1950s poolside leisure.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1958 Las Vegas material, then broader mid-century travel, motel, and poolside vacation scenes.
