A Cross Fade Of Stock Footage Showing What Looks Like A... — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1957, this vintage home movie captures a cross-fade sequence in Las Vegas, Nevada. The footage begins with a view of a classic paddlewheel riverboat, its ornate structure and smokestacks visible through a reflective surface. The scene transitions to a sunlit outdoor swimming pool area, where people relax on lounge chairs and swim under a clear sky. The film exhibits natural grain, slight color fading, and the characteristic double-exposure effect of Super 8, evoking a nostalgic mid-century American leisure moment.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s Las Vegas leisure edits needing a brief home-movie transition between themed resort architecture and poolside recreation.
Period detail: The frames may show mid-century resort styling, a riverboat-like facade, lounge chairs, and outdoor pool activity consistent with the supplied 1957 Las Vegas metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in a visitor-shot view of resort spaces, with casual swimmers and guests recorded from an unstaged vacation perspective.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a riverboat-like building facade, exterior stairway, pool deck, lounge chairs, swimmers, sunlit patio, trees, and soft cross-fade overlays.
Film character: The clip has 8mm grain, faded color, soft focus, gate edges, and layered exposure from the in-camera or edit cross-fade.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short transition, resort-life cutaway, or memory beat linking themed architecture with mid-century poolside leisure.
Historical context: The footage visually places leisure travel in a resort setting where themed architecture and outdoor swimming appear together in a brief home-movie fragment.
Research note: People are visible at a distance, so likeness review may be needed; no clear logos are visible, and copyright, location, and property issues should be checked separately.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1957 Las Vegas home movie, 1950s resort pool footage, 8mm vacation film, riverboat-themed facade, and mid-century leisure cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1957 Las Vegas material, then broader 1950s resort, pool, and vacation footage.
