Older Gentleman Wearing White Sleeveless Tee Shirt... — Clip Details

A man in a white sleeveless shirt and dark trousers walks outdoors in Catskill, New York, in 1957. He wears sunglasses and approaches the camera, briefly holding a phone to his ear. A vintage green car with chrome detailing is parked behind him on a grassy lawn, surrounded by trees. Shot on 8mm film, the footage shows natural sunlight, slight grain, and authentic mid-century Americana. The man’s casual attire and relaxed demeanor reflect a typical day in the late 1950s.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Serves documentary editors and social history researchers seeking candid late-1950s Americana: an older man filmed outdoors beside a vintage American automobile in upstate New York.
Period detail: The teal two-tone American sedan with prominent chrome trim is consistent with late-1950s automotive styling; the subject's ribbed cotton tank undershirt worn as outerwear reflects warm-weather casual dress of the era.
Home-movie behavior: The subject walks directly toward the camera in an unstaged, slightly self-conscious manner — suggesting he was filmed by a family member rather than posed for a formal portrait.
What appears in frame: Older bald man in white ribbed tank undershirt and dark trousers; teal late-1950s American sedan with chrome trim; sunglasses; object briefly held to ear; grassy lawn; mature deciduous trees; film-edge scratches; summer daylight.
Film character: 8mm reversal stock renders warm saturated greens and blues with visible frame-edge scratches and fine grain — characteristic home-movie texture consistent with mid-century amateur filmmaking.
Edit role: Serves as a character introduction, period insert, or summer-memory beat in documentaries exploring postwar American domestic life or mid-century car culture.
Historical context: Wearing a ribbed cotton undershirt as casual outerwear beside a late-1950s American sedan reflects postwar domestic comfort and Northeast summer leisure culture of the period.
Research note: An identifiable adult face is clearly visible across all frames; likeness rights are not established. The vehicle may carry a manufacturer's emblem — verify brand visibility before commercial use.
Research search match: Researchers may search: 1950s man vintage American car outdoor; older man summer backyard 8mm; upstate New York home movie 1957; postwar American casual life candid footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other clips from the same reel or family collection; then 1950s upstate New York outdoor footage; then period American car sequences or suburban Americana documentary packages.
