Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits documentary, educational, or commercial projects needing authentic late-1950s domestic leisure footage of a woman relaxing outdoors in an upstate New York backyard.

Period detail

Green-and-white aluminum-framed lawn chairs and a green-painted clapboard exterior wall are consistent with late-1950s residential settings; the 1957 date is supported by metadata.

Home-movie behavior

An unstaged backyard moment—a family member filming a woman casually reading rather than performing for the camera, typical of candid home-movie intimacy.

What appears in frame

Green-and-white striped reclining lounge chair, second striped folding chair, solid green folding lawn chair, climbing rose bush with red blooms, green-painted house wall, concrete patio, and woman in white top and sunglasses.

Film character

8mm color stock renders warm, slightly saturated tones with visible grain and minor exposure variation across frames, giving the footage a characteristic mid-century home-movie texture.

Edit role

Functions as a nostalgia insert, era-establishing cutaway, or memory-beat B-roll in a documentary or narrative piece requiring late-1950s domestic Americana.

Historical context

Aluminum folding lawn chairs became a postwar American backyard staple in the late 1940s–50s; the outdoor reading scene reflects middle-class domestic leisure of the period.

An adult woman's face is clearly identifiable throughout; likeness rights are not established and must be evaluated separately for editorial versus commercial use.
