Boat Passing Waterfront Homes with Palm Trees — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1955, this vintage home movie captures a boat gliding past waterfront homes in Dade County, Florida. The view, framed by the camera's edge, shows a long white stucco house with a terracotta roof, surrounded by tall palm trees and a concrete seawall. The water in the foreground is calm, reflecting the overcast sky, while the film exhibits natural grain, slight blurriness, and the characteristic look of a mid-century home movie. The scene evokes a quiet, nostalgic Florida lifestyle from the 1950s.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s Florida residential waterfront, boating, or coastal development cutaways in documentary, museum, education, or editorial productions.
Period detail: The stucco waterfront homes, terracotta rooflines, palm trees, seawall, and 8mm color home-movie stock support a mid-1950s South Florida setting.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries an unstaged passenger or visitor perspective from a moving boat, observing shoreline homes rather than posing a planned scene.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include calm water, a concrete seawall, white waterfront houses, terracotta roofs, palm trees, hedges, overcast sky, and film-gate edges.
Film character: Soft focus, visible grain, slight exposure variation, gate shadow, and handheld framing give the scene the texture of original mid-century 8mm home-movie footage.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief establishing insert, waterfront transition, residential cutaway, or quiet memory beat within a Florida or boating sequence.
Historical context: The footage shows mid-century leisure travel or shoreline observation in Dade County, with residential waterfront architecture seen from the water.
Research note: No people, logos, or music are evident, but visible exterior homes may require property-rights review separate from copyright licensing.
Research search match: Search phrases include 1950s Dade County waterfront homes, Florida 8mm boat view, Miami-area seawall houses, and vintage coastal residential footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then 1955 Dade County or Florida footage, then broader boating, waterfront housing, or coastal lifestyle material.
