A View Of A Pretty Backyard With Swimming Pool — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1953, this vintage home movie captures a sun-drenched backyard scene in New Mexico. The clip features a swimming pool with a wooden diving board and metal ladder, surrounded by a concrete deck. A small yellow stucco house with a red tile roof and white shutters stands in the background, flanked by palm trees and manicured shrubs. Classic mid-century lawn chairs and a blue trash can add to the period detail. The footage exhibits natural film grain and rich, slightly faded colors characteristic of 1950s home movies, offering authentic archival material for nostalgic or historical projects.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s archival requests needing a quiet domestic backyard, swimming pool, or Southwestern leisure cutaway from real 8mm home-movie footage.
Period detail: The stucco house, red tile roof, metal pool ladder, wooden diving board, lawn chairs, palms, and bright patio colors may show mid-century residential leisure styling.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged home-movie viewpoint, holding on the pool and house as a casual record of a sunny backyard rather than a directed scene.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a swimming pool, concrete deck, wooden diving board, metal ladder, yellow stucco house, red tile roof, shutters, lawn chairs, shrubs, and palm trees.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, slight color fading, high daylight exposure, and small frame-to-frame shifts that read as authentic home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, memory beat, location transition, or domestic leisure cutaway within a 1950s home, travel, or family-history sequence.
Historical context: The scene offers visual context for postwar domestic recreation and backyard pool culture, while staying limited to what this private-looking residential setting shows.
Research note: No people, logos, or audible music are indicated, but the visible residence and pool setting may still need copyright, property, and source-rights review.
Research search match: Search matches include 1953 New Mexico 8mm backyard pool, 1950s home movie swimming pool, mid-century stucco house, and vintage domestic leisure footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1953 New Mexico home-movie material, then similar 1950s residential pool or backyard scenes.
