Young Adult Running A Marathon In A Numbered Shirt — Clip Details

A young man in a white numbered shirt runs a marathon on a tree-lined street in Boston, Massachusetts, in 1975. Shot on 8mm film, the footage captures his determined stride as he passes parked vintage cars and spectators. The grainy, color-graded visuals evoke a nostalgic 1970s home movie aesthetic. The final frame shifts to an indoor scene, showing the runner in a white shirt, possibly at a post-race gathering. This authentic archival clip offers a vivid glimpse into a past era of amateur athletics and community events.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s Boston amateur sports, road-race, community athletics, or urban street-life edits needing authentic 8mm home-movie footage.
Period detail: The clip shows 1970s-era parked cars, numbered running shirts, bare winter trees, and a broad city street consistent with the supplied Boston 1975 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The camera follows runners from a roadside spectator position, giving the scene an informal family-film view of a public race.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include white race uniforms, numbered shirts, runners on asphalt, parked cars, spectators, leafless trees, and city buildings set back from the street.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, visible grain, gate edges, exposure shifts, and handheld motion that preserve the physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a brief insert, sports-history cutaway, transition into a race sequence, or memory beat about amateur athletics.
Historical context: The footage reflects a public road race environment with spectators and runners sharing a car-lined urban street, without identifying the exact event from the frames alone.
Research note: People and faces are visible, parked cars and private property appear in the background, and likeness or property review may be needed separate from copyright review.
Research search match: Research matches include 1975 Boston marathon runner 8mm, 1970s road race home movie, numbered-shirt runner street footage, and vintage amateur athletics film.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel race or gathering footage, then Boston 1975 street scenes, then broader 1970s amateur running and community sports material.
