Men Getting Into A Boat — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1975, this vintage home movie captures a group of men boarding a small white rowboat at a lakeside. One man in a white shirt stands holding an oar while another in a dark suit sits in the boat. Two other men in suits stand on the shore, observing as the group prepares to depart. The scene unfolds on a calm day with a second boat visible in the background, showcasing classic mid-20th century leisure activity. The footage features natural film grain and color fading typical of Super 8 home movies from the era.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s editorial or documentary requests needing small-boat leisure, shoreline activity, or men preparing to row in home-movie footage.
Period detail: The clothing, 8mm color palette, and metadata-supported 1975 date place the scene in a mid-1970s Boston-area home-movie context.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged moment as men coordinate boarding a rowboat from shore, with one man steadying the boat by oar.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a white rowboat, adult men in suits and shirts, an oar, calm water, a shoreline edge, and a second small boat offshore.
Film character: Soft focus, visible grain, faded color, and slight handheld framing give the footage a physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a cutaway, transition, or memory beat for leisure, family outings, rowing, or older waterfront scenes.
Historical context: The scene shows adult men around a small rowboat, suggesting informal recreation or a social outing without confirming the occasion.
Research note: People are visible and likeness review may be needed; no logos or private property are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from appearance rights.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1975 Boston 8mm rowboat, men boarding small boat, 1970s lakeside home movie, and vintage rowing footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1975 Boston-area waterfront footage, then broader 1970s boating or leisure scenes.
