Dockside Scene With Industrial Building And Military Truck — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1946, this vintage clip captures a quiet dockside scene in the Netherlands. A long wooden pier extends into calm water, with a large industrial building in the background featuring a sign that reads 'NEDERLAND'. Several green cylindrical tanks and a military-style truck are parked on the dock, where a few people in period clothing stand near the vehicles. The footage shows slight camera movement and the characteristic grain and color saturation of mid-century home movie film.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s Netherlands documentary sequences needing a brief dockside industrial cutaway from real 8mm home-movie footage.
Period detail: The pier, military-style truck, subdued clothing, and painted industrial signage may show postwar dock activity in the Netherlands.
Home-movie behavior: The footage has a visitor or traveler viewpoint, holding on the waterfront scene as people move lightly around the dock and vehicles.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include calm water, a timber pier, industrial buildings, green cylindrical tanks, a military-style truck, dock workers or passersby, and painted signage.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, slight handheld movement, muted color, and uneven exposure typical of mid-century home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use this as an establishing insert, industrial transition, harbor cutaway, or quiet memory beat within a 1940s Netherlands sequence.
Historical context: The scene gives visual context for waterfront infrastructure and everyday activity without confirming the facility name, operator, or specific event.
Research note: People and signage are visible, so users should review copyright, likeness, trademark, and property considerations before final use.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1946 Netherlands dock footage, 8mm harbor industrial building, postwar waterfront pier, and military truck on dock.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel Netherlands footage, then other 1946 Dutch harbor views, then broader industrial waterfront or postwar transport material.
