A Man's Serious Face And A Fountain On A Sunny Day — Clip Details

A close-up of an older man's serious face, wearing round glasses and a dark jacket, captured on 8mm film in 1941. The footage transitions to a sunlit fountain with classical sculptures, water spraying upward against a clear blue sky. The grainy, slightly faded color and soft focus are characteristic of vintage home movie footage. This archival clip offers a nostalgic glimpse of New York City life during the early 1940s, with natural lighting and a quiet, contemplative mood.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1940s New York home-movie footage for documentary uses needing a brief portrait insert and a sunny fountain cutaway.
Period detail: Round eyeglasses, dark outerwear, soft color reversal film, and classical fountain design may show early-1940s urban leisure details.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged visitor-shot feel, moving from a close look at an older man to a public fountain seen from nearby.
What appears in frame: An older man in round glasses, dark jacket, stone facade, fountain basin, sculpted figures, spraying water, trees, and blue sky are visible.
Film character: The 8mm image has visible grain, soft focus, slight color fade, and uneven handheld framing consistent with scanned home-movie film.
Edit role: Editors could use it as a memory beat, portrait insert, or transition from a face to a civic fountain setting.
Historical context: The footage suggests everyday sightseeing or park visitation in New York during the 1940s without identifying a specific landmark from the frames alone.
Research note: A recognizable adult face is visible, so likeness review may be needed in addition to separate copyright and location assessment.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1940s New York 8mm man with glasses, vintage fountain home movie, and early color city park footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel shots, then other 1941 New York footage, then related public fountain or urban park scenes.
