Mile Marker 1523 Of The Alaska Highway — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1977, this vintage home movie captures a scenic view of the Alaskan wilderness with a river and forested landscape. The footage then focuses on a white concrete mile marker for the Alaska Highway, clearly showing 'MILE 1523' and the City of Fairbanks seal. Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s Alaska travel footage for documentary or educational edits needing an authentic roadside Alaska Highway mile-marker insert.
Period detail: The concrete marker, bold black mileage lettering and City of Fairbanks seal support a late-1970s visitor view of Alaska road travel.
Home-movie behavior: The camera lingers from close detail to wider framing, reflecting a traveler documenting a route milestone rather than a staged scene.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a white roadside mile marker, Mile 1523 lettering, City of Fairbanks Alaska seals, riverside greenery, trees and distant utility poles.
Film character: The 8mm frame has soft focus, visible grain, mild fading, scratches and handheld steadiness typical of scanned home-movie travel footage.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a cutaway, route marker, travel transition or memory beat within an Alaska road-trip sequence.
Historical context: The clip shows a roadside marker identifying Mile 1523 of the Alaska Highway near Fairbanks, with surrounding river and forest landscape visible.
Research note: No people are visible, but the municipal seal and public marker should be reviewed for trademark, copyright and location-use considerations.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1977 Alaska Highway home movie, 8mm Fairbanks mile marker, vintage Alaska road trip and Mile 1523 travel footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then 1977 Alaska or Fairbanks material, then broader vintage highway and wilderness travel scenes.
