View Of Several Large Green Hills With The — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1975, this vintage home movie captures a striking view of large green hills in Agate Springs, Montana. The footage is bathed in a deep purple hue, likely due to film stock or lighting conditions, with a prominent rocky cliff face visible through the trees. The scene is framed by dark silhouettes of trees, creating a moody, atmospheric landscape. The grainy texture and color distortion are characteristic of Super 8 home movie footage from the era, offering a nostalgic glimpse of the American West.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s 8mm landscape footage for documentaries needing a brief rural Montana mountain or hillside cutaway.
Period detail: The visible clues are mainly the 8mm home-movie color shift, soft focus, and handheld framing, with no vehicles, clothing, signs, or built landmarks to date the view independently.
Home-movie behavior: The clip carries a visitor-shot perspective, lingering on a rocky hillside seen through dark tree silhouettes without staged action.
What appears in frame: The frames show forested hillsides, a pale rocky cliff face, dark tree edges, cloudy sky, a small light structure or tent-like shape, and heavy film borders.
Film character: The footage has dense grain, soft handheld framing, purple-blue color cast, uneven exposure, and visible gate borders from the physical 8mm source.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short landscape insert, transition, memory beat, or atmospheric cutaway for rural travel and American West sequences.
Historical context: The scene places the viewer in an outdoor Montana landscape, but the frames do not support specific claims beyond the supplied 1975 Agate Springs metadata.
Research note: No people, faces, logos, or audible music are indicated, but copyright status and any property or location permissions should still be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1975 8mm Montana hills, Agate Springs landscape, purple-shift home movie mountains, and vintage American West scenery.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with other 1975 Agate Springs or Montana footage, and then with rural hillside and forest landscape material.
