People Walking In A Field While It Was Raining — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1975, this vintage home movie captures a group of people walking through a grassy field under a heavy downpour in Agate Springs, Montana. Dressed in raincoats and hooded ponchos, they move across the open landscape with a dense forest forming a dark, purple-hued backdrop. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain, color distortion, and a slightly shaky camera movement, evoking a nostalgic, authentic 1970s outdoor experience. The purple tint and weather conditions create a moody, atmospheric scene ideal for documentaries, period pieces, or nostalgic content.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s 8mm home-movie footage for productions needing a brief rural rainstorm scene with people crossing an open field near forest.
Period detail: The rain ponchos, handheld 8mm look, and muted color shift may show mid-1970s amateur travel or family footage rather than a staged outdoor scene.
Home-movie behavior: The figures move casually through wet grass as if continuing an outing despite rain, giving the clip an unstaged home-movie record of weather and group movement.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include hooded rain ponchos, a grassy field, several distant adults, dark conifer trees, heavy rain atmosphere, and handheld framing.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm grain, purple color fading, low-contrast exposure, and slight handheld instability that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, weather cutaway, rural transition, or memory beat within a sequence about travel, outdoor life, or 1970s family footage.
Historical context: The scene documents people outdoors in rain on a rural landscape, with clothing and film handling suggesting informal 1970s amateur documentation.
Research note: People are visible at a distance, so likeness review may be needed; no logos or private property are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from appearance rights.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1975 8mm Montana rain field, people in ponchos walking, rural home movie storm, and 1970s outdoor travel footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with 1975 Agate Springs or Montana footage, and then with broader rain, field, forest, or rural travel scenes.
