Footage Of A Rock Formation Possibly On The Side Of A... — Clip Details

A close-up 8mm home movie shot from 1972 captures the intricate textures of a weathered rock formation, likely on a cliffside in Idaho. The camera slowly zooms in, revealing layers of dark, purplish-blue and tan stone with deep crevices and erosion patterns. The grainy, slightly faded quality of the Super 8 film enhances the vintage feel, with natural lighting highlighting the rugged surface. This archival footage offers a nostalgic glimpse into natural landscapes from the early 1970s.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s Idaho 8mm nature footage for productions needing a brief geological texture cutaway or landscape insert.
Period detail: The frames show close Super 8 views of eroded rock, with the 1972 Idaho context supported by clip metadata rather than visible landmarks.
Home-movie behavior: The shot has a visitor-made feel, holding close on surface texture and slowly moving in as if recording an unusual cliffside detail.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include tan eroded stone, darker bluish rock layers, deep crevices, rough holes, shadowed recesses, and film-frame borders.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows coarse grain, soft focus, uneven exposure, and slight color fading that locate the clip within home-movie film texture.
Edit role: Editors could use it as a short nature insert, geology cutaway, memory beat, or visual transition within a 1970s outdoor sequence.
Historical context: The clip may show a roadside or trail-side rock face in Idaho, documenting how a home-movie camera lingered on landscape detail.
Research note: No people, logos, or private property are visible, but users should still verify copyright status and any location-specific property concerns.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1972 Idaho 8mm rock formation, vintage home movie cliff texture, Super 8 geology cutaway, and eroded stone close-up.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1972 Idaho outdoor footage, then broader vintage geology or cliffside material.
