Hay Bales Scattered Across Rural Field With Hills — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1972, this vintage home movie captures a wide, sun-drenched field in Idaho, scattered with numerous rectangular hay bales under a clear blue sky. Rolling hills form a rugged backdrop, and the footage exhibits classic Super 8 grain, color shifts, and a slightly soft focus, viewed through a dark frame border. The camera pans slowly across the rural landscape, emphasizing the vastness and quiet of the American West during a dry season.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1970s documentary or educational edits needing rural Idaho agriculture, open Western farmland, or dry-season hay field atmosphere from home-movie 8mm footage.
Period detail: The rectangular hay bales, open field, soft color 8mm image, and rural landscape support the supplied 1972 Idaho setting without showing specific landmarks.
Home-movie behavior: The camera observes the field from a casual roadside or travel viewpoint, valuing the broad rural scene rather than staged activity.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include scattered rectangular hay bales, dry grass, green field rows, low hills, blue sky, distant tree lines, dirt tracks, and dark film-frame borders.
Film character: The clip has visible 8mm grain, soft focus, slight color shift, bright daylight exposure, and contact-frame edges that give it clear physical-film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a rural establishing shot, agricultural cutaway, Western landscape transition, or quiet memory beat between travel or farm sequences.
Historical context: The footage documents a broad agricultural landscape in Idaho, showing hay storage across open fields but not identifying a specific farm, town, or event.
Research note: No people, logos, or private interiors are visible, but copyright, location, and any property-related permissions should still be reviewed for the intended use.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1972 Idaho 8mm farm field, vintage hay bales, rural American West landscape, home movie agriculture, and dry summer farmland.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel rural travel shots, then other 1972 Idaho footage, then broader vintage agriculture and American West landscape clips.
