Child Petting Black and Tan Puppy on Grass — Clip Details

Shot on 8mm film in 1979, this vintage home movie captures a young person in blue jeans and a white shirt crouching on a grassy lawn, gently petting a small black and tan puppy. The puppy, likely a young German Shepherd mix, playfully rolls and moves on the green grass as the person strokes its back. The footage has a soft, grainy quality typical of Super 8 film, with natural outdoor lighting and slight camera movement, evoking a warm, nostalgic moment of childhood companionship and pet care.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s 8mm home-movie footage for productions needing a quiet domestic pet-care or childhood-companionship insert from Southern California.
Period detail: The blue flared jeans, soft outdoor color, and 8mm handling may show late-1970s casual family filming rather than a staged scene.
Home-movie behavior: A person crouches close to the grass and gently handles a small puppy, giving the clip an unstaged family-pet observation.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a grassy lawn, a crouching person in blue jeans, hands reaching toward the puppy, a small black-and-tan dog, and dark film-frame borders.
Film character: The clip carries a soft 8mm home-movie look with grain, slight blur, uneven exposure, and handheld framing that preserve its original film character.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a brief cutaway, memory beat, or transition for family life, pets, childhood, or everyday 1970s leisure.
Historical context: The footage offers a small-scale view of casual pet interaction in a residential outdoor setting, with no visible landmark or public event context.
Research note: People are partially visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos are evident, and copyright clearance remains separate from likeness or property concerns.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1979 Laguna Beach 8mm puppy on grass, vintage home movie child with dog, and 1970s family pet footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1979 Laguna Beach material, then broader 1970s family-pet or backyard home-movie scenes.
