Man In Fez Poses At Base Of Sphinx — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Cairo, Egypt, in 1946 shows a man in a tan uniform and red fez standing at the base of a massive stone sphinx. The clip opens with a silhouetted view of the ancient monument against a cloudy sky, then cuts to the man posing proudly, pointing toward the sphinx's massive paws. The film exhibits classic Super 8 grain, color fading, and slight motion blur, capturing a nostalgic moment of tourism at this iconic Egyptian landmark during the mid-20th century.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for requests needing 1940s Egypt travel footage, Sphinx tourism views, or brief archive inserts of visitors at an ancient landmark.
Period detail: The red fez, tan belted outfit, wristwatch, and 8mm color home-movie stock support a mid-1940s visitor scene in Cairo as described by the clip metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves a visitor-shot moment as a man poses and points toward the Sphinx, suggesting personal travel documentation rather than staged production.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include the Sphinx silhouette, stone base, cloudy sky, man in red fez, tan clothing, pointing arm, wristwatch, and film-frame borders.
Film character: The footage has soft 8mm color, visible grain, uneven exposure, slight blur, and gate-edge framing that give it a physical home-movie archive texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short establishing insert, travel-memory beat, or cutaway linking Egyptian antiquities with mid-century tourism.
Historical context: The scene shows a tourist or local visitor posing at the Sphinx, offering social context around landmark visitation without identifying the man.
Research note: A visible adult face and identifiable landmark require likeness and location review; copyright, personality, and property considerations should be assessed separately.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1940s Cairo home movie, 8mm Sphinx footage, Egypt travel film, man in fez at Sphinx, and vintage tourist landmark clip.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel shots, then other 1946 Cairo or Sphinx material, then broader Egypt travel and mid-century monument tourism footage.
