Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Serves documentary or editorial projects needing authentic 1970s domestic holiday or gift-giving footage from the northeastern United States.
Period detail: The woman's dark-framed glasses, patterned knit jacket, plaid upholstery, and wood-paneled wall are consistent with early-to-mid 1970s American domestic interiors and fashion.
Home-movie behavior: An unguarded reaction shot; the subject's shifting expression from focused anticipation to genuine delight is unstaged and unrepeatable in scripted production.
What appears in frame: Middle-aged woman with styled blonde hair and dark-framed glasses, purple patterned jacket, plaid couch, dark wood-paneled wall, gold-framed picture, bare winter tree visible through window, wrapped gift partially in view.
Film character: A strong purple color cast from 8mm dye aging, visible grain, and slightly soft focus give the footage an intimate, time-worn tactile quality characteristic of scanned home-movie originals.
Edit role: Works as a close-up reaction insert or emotional memory beat in documentary and narrative sequences about family, holidays, or the passage of time.
Historical context: The wood-paneled living room, plaid furniture, and glasses style reflect mid-1970s American domestic interiors typical of working- and middle-class upstate New York households of the era.
Research note: One adult woman's face is clearly identifiable throughout; a private residential interior is visible; editorial or commercial use requires independent legal review of likeness and property rights.
Research search match: A researcher might search for 1970s woman receiving gift, vintage holiday reaction shot, 8mm home movie gift opening, or upstate New York 1973 family footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other clips from the same reel or Troy NY collection, then with 1970s northeastern US domestic interiors, then with holiday gift-exchange or family celebration footage.
