Troy New York USA-1973: Grainy Film Footage Of The Front Of A Hotel Building

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits a 1970s travel or personal memoir documentary needing an exterior establishing shot of a mid-century American hotel entrance.

Period detail

The corrugated metal canopy, yellow-painted curved curb, window louvers on a multi-story facade, and ivy-covered concrete pillars are consistent with early-1970s mid-century American hotel design.

Home-movie behavior

Shot from the hotel forecourt looking up at the entrance, suggesting a visitor documenting the property rather than a staged promotional view.

What appears in frame

Corrugated metal porte-cochère canopy, curved yellow-painted driveway curb, ivy-covered concrete pillar, manicured shrubs, multi-story beige facade, window louvers, palm fronds, and a partially visible adult figure.

Film character

Classic 8mm grain with slight color desaturation, soft edge focus, and frame-edge vignetting lend the footage an authentic mid-1970s home-movie texture.

Edit role

Functions as a brief establishing cut or travel interstitial introducing a 1970s hotel setting before interior or event footage from the same reel.

Historical context

Mid-century American hotels of this era commonly featured covered porte-cochère entrances and heavy landscaping; the visible palm tree may warrant location verification given the claimed upstate New York metadata.

Research note

One adult figure is partially visible under the awning in early frames but appears at distance and is not clearly identifiable; standard editorial due diligence is recommended before commercial use.
