Nebraska USA-1957: 2 Men Standing In A House, 1 Man In Wheelchair

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fills 1950s Americana, disability history, or domestic social-history briefs needing authentic mid-century American interior footage with identifiable period detail.

Period detail

A dark fedora hat, dress-shirt suspenders, eyeglasses frames, and the silhouette of a rounded-top appliance in the background are consistent with mid-1950s American domestic settings.

Home-movie behavior

The three men appear relaxed in an unscripted domestic gathering — one smoking, one using a wheelchair — conveying candidness that no staged production replicates.

What appears in frame

Man in dark suit and fedora holding a cigarette; older man in light shirt, suspenders, and glasses; younger man in white t-shirt in a manual wheelchair; plain painted wall; rounded-top dark appliance; dim available-light interior.

Film character

Pronounced 8mm grain, deep shadows from low-key available light, and a warm-shifted color emulsion produce an amber-tinged texture characteristic of mid-century home movie stocks.

Edit role

Functions as a character-establishing insert or social-history cutaway; the static handheld framing suits a slow cut-in for 1950s domestic or disability-history narrative contexts.

Historical context

Manual wheelchairs in 1950s American households predate most accessibility legislation; this scene may reflect everyday domestic life with disability in mid-century America.

Research note

Three adult faces are clearly identifiable and the setting appears to be a private residence; likeness rights cannot be assumed, and commercial use warrants personal-appearance releases.
