Idaho USA-1955: Woman In Striped Dress At A Picnic With A Man

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Serves 1950s American family-life documentary requests — a candid couple at outdoor leisure provides a warm period insert or memory beat for postwar social history productions.

Period detail

The woman's bold vertical-stripe dress with wide white collar and dark upswept hair are consistent with mid-1950s American casual fashion; the man's red shirt and sunglasses support the stated 1955 date.

Home-movie behavior

The camera dwells in extended close-up on the woman's face, suggesting she is an affectionate, familiar subject — an unstaged, intimate portrait rather than a posed or directed performance.

What appears in frame

Woman in black-and-white striped dress with white collar, man in red shirt holding food, white picnic blanket, olive-green blanket, red condiment bottle, green lawn, clear blue sky, partial view of a second striped garment at frame edge.

Film character

Warm 8mm color saturation, gentle grain, and softly focused edges are hallmarks of mid-century reversal stock, lending frames an authenticity that archive-trained eyes will recognise immediately.

Edit role

The repeated close-up portraits function as an emotional memory beat or character punctuation; the wider picnic frame at clip open works as an establishing cutaway for an outdoor leisure sequence.

Historical context

Casual outdoor dining on a blanket was a staple of postwar American family leisure; the woman's fashionable stripe dress suggests a social occasion rather than an informal everyday outing.

Research note

Adult faces are clearly identifiable across multiple frames; likeness rights are not evaluated or cleared, and a clearance specialist must assess suitability for editorial or commercial use.
