Idaho USA-1955: Picnicking On The Family Acreage, It's Nice Out In The Field

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits mid-century Americana documentary segments, educational content about 1950s rural family life, or period-set productions needing authentic Idaho outdoor footage.

Period detail

A classic red pickup truck and a light-colored sedan visible in frame 1 are consistent with early-to-mid 1950s American vehicle styling; women's hairstyles and clothing align with mid-decade casual dress.

Home-movie behavior

Subjects are relaxed and unselfconscious — a man laughing broadly for the camera while women eat and chat, capturing the informal spontaneity typical of family-amateur 8mm documentation.

What appears in frame

Two women on grass near a small table, a paper grocery bag, paper cups, a pink plate of chips and food pieces, a laughing man in a maroon shirt, a red pickup truck, a light sedan, and a woman in a striped dress.

Film character

Warm muted 8mm color with natural grain and slight vignetting at frame edges, producing the soft-toned look characteristic of mid-century amateur color film shot in daylight.

Edit role

The food close-up functions as a cutaway; the laughing man and seated women provide social B-roll suited to voiceover-driven narration, memory beats, or period-life montage sequences.

Historical context

Outdoor picnicking on private rural land was a common leisure activity in postwar rural America; the vehicles and casual dress reflect mid-1950s consumer culture outside urban centers.

Research note

Multiple adult faces are clearly identifiable and a paper bag may carry a brand mark — both require rights review before broadcast or commercial use; no clearance is confirmed.
