Idaho USA-1955: Young Woman Smiling in Suburban Neighborhood

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits mid-century Americana documentary, social history, or editorial projects seeking authentic postwar suburban life in the American West, circa 1955.

Period detail

Cat-eye glasses, sleeveless white dress with collar, and small white hat are consistent with mid-1950s women's fashion, supporting the 1955 metadata date.

Home-movie behavior

The subject smiles directly at camera then turns to profile — the natural posed-yet-candid dynamic of a family member or friend filming an outdoor outing.

What appears in frame

Young woman in white dress and small white cap, cat-eye glasses, tree-lined suburban lawn, green grass, bare deciduous trees, residential buildings in background, 8mm grain.

Film character

The 8mm footage shows warm color fading, light grain, and minor surface scratches that lend an authentic mid-century home-movie texture without obscuring the subject.

Edit role

Works as a memory-beat insert or character-establishing shot within postwar domestic, social history, or mid-century Americana narrative sequences.

Historical context

Cat-eye glasses and a white summer dress with hat reflect mid-1950s suburban women's fashion norms in the postwar American West; no specific landmark or event is identifiable on screen.

Research note

An identifiable adult woman's face is clearly visible throughout; likeness rights cannot be confirmed from archival home-movie footage and must be assessed before editorial or commercial use.
