Woman in Yellow Swimsuit on Costa Rica Parade Float — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from California USA in 1952 captures a lively parade scene. A woman in a yellow swimsuit stands on a float labeled 'COSTA RICA', waving to the crowd. The float features colorful flags and a large sign, with a building displaying a 'HARVARD' advertisement in the background. Spectators line the street, and people watch from balconies of a multi-story building. The footage exhibits classic Super 8 film grain, slight motion blur, and faded colors, evoking a nostalgic mid-century American atmosphere.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1950s California parade requests needing brief home-movie coverage of float riders, spectators, and street-pageant atmosphere.
Period detail: The swimsuit, parade float signage, bunting, balconies, and faded 8mm color support a mid-century public parade setting consistent with the supplied 1952 metadata.
Home-movie behavior: The camera records from within the crowd as float participants wave and spectators watch from street level and upper balconies.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include swimsuit-clad float riders, a COSTA RICA sign, colorful pennants, crowded sidewalks, balcony spectators, modernist building facades, and a HARVARD advertisement.
Film character: The clip has soft 8mm color, visible grain, slight blur, uneven exposure, and handheld framing that preserve the physical texture of a scanned home movie.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, parade cutaway, mid-century civic-life transition, or memory beat within travel, community, or pageant sequences.
Historical context: The footage shows a public parade presenting national-themed float imagery and spectators in an urban California street setting without confirming the event name.
Research note: People, faces, and visible signage require review for likeness, trademark, and contextual use; copyright status is separate from these clearance concerns.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1952 California parade footage, 8mm home movie float, Costa Rica parade sign, swimsuit float rider, and mid-century street crowd.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other California 1952 parade scenes, then broader 1950s parade, float, spectator, and street-celebration footage.
