Chelan Washington USA-1939: Man Examining Mechanical Device at Table

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Suits documentary sequences needing brief interior footage of an adult male engaged with a small object, representing late-1930s American domestic or workshop daily life.

Period detail

Work shirt, dark upholstered chairs, and a brick wall may suggest a late-1930s domestic or community interior consistent with small-town American settings of the era.

Home-movie behavior

The subject appears absorbed in handling a small object with little awareness of the camera, giving the footage the unstaged candor typical of amateur 8mm home movies.

What appears in frame

Adult male in dark work shirt, seated in profile at a table, small metallic device on the table surface, dark upholstered chairs in background, brick wall, low-key interior lighting.

Film character

Classic 8mm grain, pronounced edge vignetting, and low-contrast exposure place the footage firmly in the amateur film tradition and give it a tactile archival texture.

Edit role

Most useful as a brief cutaway or insert within a sequence illustrating domestic life, hands-on craftsmanship, or everyday pre-war American activity.

Historical context

A brick-walled interior with wooden furniture and upholstered chairs is consistent with a late-1930s domestic or small workshop setting; the specific activity cannot be confirmed from visuals alone.

Research note

An adult male face is visible across multiple frames; his identity is unknown and likeness rights cannot be assessed from visual review alone; consult rights holders before commercial clearance.
