Ice Fishing on Frozen Lake with Yellow Hut and Classic Cars — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Wisconsin USA in 1957 captures a serene winter scene on a frozen lake. Two men in heavy coats ice fish on the snow-covered surface, one seated on a yellow bucket, the other standing nearby. A small yellow ice fishing hut stands prominently in the middle of the lake. In the background, a line of classic 1950s automobiles is parked along the shore, with snow-dusted hills and bare trees under a gray sky. The film exhibits natural grain, slight color fading, and the characteristic frame borders of Super 8 footage, evoking a nostalgic, authentic mid-century American winter.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Helps source 1950s Wisconsin winter recreation footage for documentary inserts, regional history programs, or mid-century family leisure sequences.
Period detail: The heavy coats, simple ice-fishing setup, small hut, and shoreline automobiles support a late-1950s rural or small-town winter setting.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged home-movie view of people quietly ice fishing, with attention drifting between the hut, anglers, and frozen lakeshore.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a frozen lake, yellow ice-fishing hut, bundled anglers, bucket or stool, sled-like gear, parked cars, snowy hills, and bare trees.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, mild color fading, handheld framing, and dark frame borders that retain its physical home-movie character.
Edit role: Editors can use it as a short winter cutaway, regional memory beat, or transition into mid-century outdoor leisure and seasonal routines.
Historical context: The scene reflects everyday cold-weather recreation on a frozen Wisconsin lake without supporting a specific event or named community.
Research note: People are visible at a distance, so likeness review may be needed; no logos or readable brands are apparent, and copyright clearance remains separate.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1950s Wisconsin ice fishing, vintage 8mm frozen lake, yellow ice hut, winter home movie, and mid-century snowy lakeshore.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Wisconsin 1957 winter footage, then broader ice fishing or frozen-lake recreation scenes.
