Man And Woman In Motorboat On Lake — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Washington USA in 1940 shows a man and a woman in a small motorboat on a calm lake. The man, wearing a hat and light-colored shirt, operates the outboard motor while the woman, in a patterned dress, sits beside him. The boat glides across the water, its reflection visible beneath, with forested hills and mountains forming a serene backdrop. The grainy black-and-white image captures a quiet, nostalgic moment of mid-century leisure, with the film's characteristic borders and slight motion blur adding to its authentic archival quality.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1940s Pacific Northwest leisure, boating, lakeside travel, or family-memory sequences needing real 8mm home-movie texture.
Period detail: The small outboard motor, simple open boat, brimmed hat, patterned dress, and black-and-white 8mm stock support a mid-century home-movie setting.
Home-movie behavior: The scene has unstaged value in the casual posture of two adults sharing a quiet boat ride while one person handles the motor.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two adults, a small motorboat, an outboard motor, calm lake water, reflected hull, forested shoreline, and low mountains.
Film character: The clip shows soft black-and-white 8mm grain, contact-frame borders, mild motion blur, and uneven exposure typical of scanned home-movie film.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, memory beat, transition, or cutaway for recreation, travel, lakeside leisure, or family-history material.
Historical context: The footage shows recreational boating on a mountain lake in Washington, reflecting ordinary leisure rather than a staged or public event.
Research note: People are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos or private property are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from subject identification.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1940 Washington 8mm lake boating, vintage home movie motorboat, Pacific Northwest lake recreation, and couple in small boat.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other Washington 1940 lake footage, then broader vintage boating or outdoor leisure scenes.
