Washington DC USA-1975: Man Walking Suited Up Approaching Luxury Car

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fills editorial requests for 1970s African American middle-class life, Black affluence, or Washington DC social history in documentary and archival productions.

Period detail

The large American sedan's body styling, 8mm color saturation, and the man's suit cut are consistent with mid-1970s film; metadata dates this to Washington DC, 1975.

Home-movie behavior

Shot through shrubbery from a slight elevation, the footage has the candid observational quality of a family member filming an ordinary departure rather than a posed event.

What appears in frame

A well-dressed Black man in a dark suit and white shirt, a large dark blue American sedan, a concrete driveway, dense green shrubbery in the foreground, natural daylight, and a chrome-trimmed car door.

Film character

8mm grain is present throughout, with the characteristic cool-warm color split of mid-1970s consumer film — blues shifted toward purple on the car body, warm amber on skin tones in direct light.

Edit role

Works as an insert or cutaway in documentary segments on Black American life, Washington DC history, or 1970s affluence; also suits memory-beat and era-establishing transitions.

Historical context

The clip offers home-movie documentation of African American middle- or upper-class life in the mid-1970s; no specific public figures or dateable public events are identifiable in the frames.

Research note

A clearly identifiable adult face is visible across multiple frames; likeness rights require clearance for commercial use beyond editorial; copyright rests with the original home-movie maker.
