Washington DC USA-1975: River Boat Tour With View Of Another Boat On Bright

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fits 1970s leisure and tourism documentary needs; the river-tour POV and passing watercraft support archival segments on Washington DC summer recreation or American holiday travel in the mid-1970s.

Period detail

Faded blue-purple color cast and fine film grain are consistent with mid-1970s 8mm stock; leisure watercraft style and the tree-lined riverbank support the stated 1975 date.

Home-movie behavior

Filmed from the open deck of a tour vessel, the camera captures a tourist's spontaneous point-of-view as a motorboat crosses the river, with fellow passengers silhouetted in the foreground.

What appears in frame

Wide river with gentle surface ripples, wooded tree-lined shoreline with distant structures, vertical structural columns of the tour vessel, white motorboat leaving a wake, silhouetted heads of seated passengers, faded blue-purple film color cast.

Film character

Heavy blue-purple color fade, fine film grain, and mild emulsion softness give the footage a characteristic mid-1970s amateur-film texture that reads as period-authentic archival material.

Edit role

Useful as a cutaway or memory-beat insert in a documentary passage on leisure tourism or river travel; the silhouetted passenger foreground lends itself to a natural tourist POV transition.

Historical context

River boat tours were a common Washington DC tourist activity in the mid-1970s; this footage shows recreational watercraft sharing the river alongside a sightseeing vessel, reflecting civilian leisure culture of the era.
