Hoboken New Jersey USA-1966: Cheerful Couple Receive Friend For A Nice Dinner At

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Fits archival requests for 1960s American domestic social life, mid-century dinner-party arrivals, or period-vignette inserts in documentary and editorial productions.

Period detail

Dark fedoras on both men, the woman's fur-trimmed hat, and a tan trench coat are consistent with mid-1960s American dress; venetian blinds and a paneled door suggest a modest urban residential interior.

Home-movie behavior

Candid arrival greeting captured at the door by a household member — subjects interact naturally and appear unaware of the camera, giving the scene an unstaged quality.

What appears in frame

Two men in dark fedora hats, a woman in a gray coat with a fur-trimmed hat, a tan trench coat, a lit cigarette, a paneled interior door, venetian blinds, and tableware glimpsed in the final frame.

Film character

Moderate 8mm grain with a cool blue-purple color cast from film aging; low interior light produces slight softness and shadow crush in the doorway area.

Edit role

Works as an arrival insert or social-gathering cutaway in period documentaries; the 5-second duration suits a single-cut memory beat or scene transition.

Historical context

The formal hat-wearing by all adults and visible indoor cigarette smoking reflect common mid-1960s American social conventions at domestic gatherings.

Research note

Identifiable adult faces are visible in multiple frames; likeness review is required before editorial or commercial use, and copyright status of the original footage should be independently verified.
