Water-Skiing On A Pond — Clip Details

Vintage 1961 home movie footage from Michigan USA showing a person water-skiing on a calm pond. The skier, wearing a bright orange life vest and white trunks, glides across the blue water while holding a tow rope, creating a spray of white water. The scene is framed by dark borders, suggesting viewing through a window or projector, with a natural shoreline of green trees and sandy bank in the background. The 8mm film quality features soft focus, grain, and slightly faded colors typical of mid-century home movies, capturing a nostalgic moment of summer recreation.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Supports 1960s U.S. summer recreation requests needing real home-movie water-skiing footage for documentary, museum, education, or period lifestyle edits.
Period detail: The bright life vest, tow rope, small water-ski setup, wooded shoreline, and 8mm color stock support a 1961 Michigan home-movie recreation setting.
Home-movie behavior: The clip captures an unstaged leisure moment as a skier crosses the pond while the camera observes from a distant, casual home-movie vantage.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a water-skier, orange life vest, white trunks, tow rope, blue pond water, white spray, dark frame borders, and a wooded sandy shoreline.
Film character: Soft focus, visible grain, faded color, gate shadows, and the contact-print framing give the footage a distinctly physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, seasonal transition, family-memory beat, or recreational cutaway within a mid-century summer sequence.
Historical context: The scene reflects ordinary outdoor leisure in a lakeside or pond setting, with no visible public event, signage, or identifiable landmark in the frames.
Research note: A person is visible at a distance, so likeness review may still be needed; no logos, music, or clear private property are visible, and copyright status is separate.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1961 Michigan water-skiing home movie, 1960s pond recreation, vintage 8mm summer sports, and family vacation lake footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent same-reel summer footage, then other 1961 Michigan material, then broader 1960s water recreation or lakeside family activity clips.
