Adult Swimming With Life Jacket In Lake Water — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from 1961 showing an adult swimming in a lake or sea, wearing a life jacket. The person floats on their back, partially submerged, with a dark object nearby, possibly a paddle or float. The scene is viewed through a window frame, with natural sunlight creating reflections on the water. The film exhibits characteristic grain, color fading, and slight motion blur typical of 8mm home movies from the early 1960s. The overall mood is nostalgic and candid, capturing a moment of leisure and safety in a natural aquatic setting.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s Michigan home-movie footage suited for productions needing leisure, lake swimming, water safety, or summer recreation inserts.
Period detail: The 8mm color, life jacket, and casual lake activity support an early-1960s home-movie setting without visible landmarks or dated signage.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged moment of an adult floating and swimming in open water as filmed from a shaded or framed vantage point.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include an adult swimmer, orange life jacket, rippled lake water, a dark floating object, sun glints, and vertical window-like frame edges.
Film character: Soft focus, visible grain, muted color, mild exposure variation, and handheld framing give the short scene a physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: Editors could use it as a cutaway, memory beat, or transitional insert for midcentury vacations, lake recreation, or water-safety storytelling.
Historical context: The scene reflects private leisure on Michigan water in 1961, with the life jacket adding a visible safety element to the swimming activity.
Research note: An adult person is visible but not clearly identifiable; likeness review may still be needed, while copyright clearance remains separate from appearance rights.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1961 Michigan 8mm lake swimming, adult in life jacket, home movie water recreation, and vintage summer swim footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with 1961 Michigan outdoor recreation, then with broader lake, swimming, and life-jacket themes.
