Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s American summer recreation requests needing authentic home-movie lake activity, small-boat footage, or water-skiing leisure inserts.
Period detail: The frames show a small open motorboat, swimwear, and water-skiing gear consistent with early-1960s recreational lake footage in Michigan.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in the casual, unstaged record of friends moving between boating, swimming, and starting a water-ski run on a calm lake.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a small speedboat, adult swimmers, water skis, tow movement, lake surface, bright sun glints, spray, and dark 8mm frame edges.
Film character: The clip carries an 8mm home-movie texture with soft focus, visible grain, slight exposure shifts, muted color, and handheld framing from the water's edge or another boat.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, summer recreation cutaway, mid-century leisure transition, or memory beat around boating and water sports.
Historical context: The footage documents informal lake recreation in Michigan at a time when motorboating and water skiing were familiar American vacation activities.
Research note: People are visible at a distance, so likeness review may be needed; no logos or private property are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from personal rights.
Research search match: Researcher matches include 1961 Michigan 8mm water skiing, vintage home movie lake recreation, classic speedboat swimming, and mid-century American summer sports.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with same-reel lake or family recreation scenes, then other Michigan 1961 footage, then broader 1960s boating, swimming, and water-skiing material.
