Motorboat Pulling Person in Orange Life Vest — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Michigan USA in 1961 captures a person waterskiing on a calm lake. A motorboat pulls the skier, who wears a bright orange life vest and swimsuit, across the water, leaving a white wake. The background shows a tree-lined shore under a clear sky, evoking a classic summer recreational moment from the early 1960s.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s American leisure, Michigan lake recreation, water-sports inserts, and home-movie sequences needing authentic small-boat waterskiing footage.
Period detail: The 8mm color, swimsuit, orange life vest, motorboat, and lakeside setting support an early-1960s summer recreation reading without visible brands or landmarks.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged family or visitor perspective on a skier being towed across open water during a casual lake outing.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a motorboat, tow rope, waterskier, orange life vest, swimsuit, lake wake, tree-lined shore, and dark film-frame borders.
Film character: The footage has soft 8mm focus, visible grain, slightly faded color, mild gate framing, and handheld home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use it as a short insert, summer-memory beat, recreation cutaway, or transition within a sequence about midcentury lake vacations.
Historical context: The scene reflects recreational boating and waterskiing as visible outdoor leisure in a Michigan lake setting during the early 1960s.
Research note: A person is visible at a distance, so likeness review may still be needed; no logos, music, private property, or identifiable landmarks are visible in these frames.
Research search match: Search phrases include 1961 Michigan 8mm waterskiing, vintage lake boating home movie, 1960s family vacation water sports, and motorboat pulling skier.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent footage from the same reel, then Michigan 1961 lake material, then broader 1960s boating, swimming, and summer recreation clips.
