Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s editorial or documentary requests needing Michigan lake recreation, swimming, and water skiing in authentic 8mm home-movie footage.
Period detail: The footage shows mid-century recreational swimwear and water-ski activity, with the 1961 Michigan setting supported by clip metadata rather than visible landmarks.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves casual lakeside leisure, with a swimmer treading water and a skier filmed from a distant home-movie viewpoint rather than staged coverage.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include choppy lake water, a swimmer's head and shoulders, foamy wake, a woman water skiing, tow rope, and dark film-frame borders.
Film character: The 8mm scan has soft focus, visible grain, color fading, uneven exposure, and frame-edge artifacts that reinforce its physical home-movie origin.
Edit role: Editors could use it as a short insert, summer recreation cutaway, lake-memory beat, or transition between broader family vacation scenes.
Historical context: The scene reflects ordinary American lake recreation in the early 1960s, showing swimming and water skiing as leisure activities without identifiable public landmarks.
Research note: People are visible, including faces at a distance, so likeness review may be needed separate from copyright or source-film rights assessment.
Research search match: Research matches include 1961 Michigan 8mm lake swimming, vintage home movie water skiing, 1960s summer lake recreation, and man treading water footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1961 Michigan lake footage, then broader vintage swimming or water-skiing home movies.
