Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s Michigan lake recreation requests needing authentic home-movie views of swimming, boating, shoreline, and summer leisure.
Period detail: The 8mm color palette, swim cap, small motorboat, and casual lake activity support an early-1960s home-movie setting without identifying a specific lake.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has unstaged family-film value, shifting from distant boat activity near a sandy shore to a close view of a woman swimming toward the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include lake water, pale sandy shoreline, a small motorboat with riders, wake on the surface, a woman in a swim cap, and dark film-frame edges.
Film character: Soft focus, visible grain, uneven exposure, and the contact-frame borders give the footage a physical 8mm texture typical of scanned home movies.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a summer recreation insert, lake-life cutaway, memory beat, or transition between boating and swimming sequences.
Historical context: The footage shows midcentury leisure at a Michigan lake, with swimming and motorboating presented as casual family or vacation activity.
Research note: People are visible, including a recognizable swimmer, so likeness review may be needed in addition to copyright and any location-use assessment.
Research search match: Search matches include 1961 Michigan 8mm lake footage, vintage home movie swimming, woman swim cap, small boat on lake, and 1960s summer recreation.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with other shots from the same reel, then Michigan 1961 lake material, then broader 1960s swimming, boating, beach, and family-vacation footage.
