Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for requests for early 1960s U.S. home-movie recreation footage showing lake waterskiing and amateur summer leisure.
Period detail: The clip shows 1961 Michigan home-movie watersports with a white swimsuit, simple water skis, and small-boat towing typical of mid-century lake recreation.
Home-movie behavior: The man appears casually filmed as he adjusts his skis in the water and then tries to rise behind the boat, giving the clip unstaged family-recreation value.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include an adult man, white swim trunks, paired water skis, lake water, tow rope, boat wake, spray, and dark film-frame borders.
Film character: The 8mm color footage has soft focus, visible grain, slight color fading, handheld framing, and exposure variation that support an authentic home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short insert, summer memory beat, watersports cutaway, or transition into a broader sequence about mid-century lake vacations.
Historical context: The scene reflects recreational boating and waterskiing on a Michigan lake in 1961, without visible landmarks or signs that identify a more specific place.
Research note: An adult face is visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos or private property are apparent, and copyright status must be assessed separately.
Research search match: Researcher searches may include 1961 Michigan 8mm water skiing, vintage lake recreation home movie, man in white swimsuit on water skis, and summer boating footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with nearby shots from the same reel, then other 1961 Michigan lake footage, then broader vintage waterskiing, boating, and summer recreation scenes.
