Man And Woman Swimming In Lake With Orange Float — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Michigan, USA, in 1961 shows a man and a woman swimming in a lake. The woman wears a white swim cap and an orange inflatable ring, while the man supports her in the water. A dark fin-like shape, possibly a fish or boat, appears in the water nearby. The clip captures a candid, nostalgic moment of summer recreation with authentic film grain and color degradation typical of 1960s home movies.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s Michigan home-movie requests needing lake swimming, summer recreation, or informal adult leisure footage for documentary or museum edits.
Period detail: The white swim cap, orange inflatable ring, faded color, and 8mm framing may show early-1960s family recreation without identifiable landmarks.
Home-movie behavior: The clip records an unstaged moment as a man supports a woman floating in open water while the camera observes from a distance.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include two adult swimmers, a white swim cap, an orange float, rippled lake water, a dark fin-like shape, and soft 8mm frame edges.
Film character: The footage has soft focus, visible grain, muted color shift, mild exposure variation, and handheld home-movie framing consistent with scanned 8mm film.
Edit role: Editors could use it as a brief insert, summer-memory beat, water-recreation cutaway, or transition within a sequence about family leisure.
Historical context: The scene reflects informal outdoor swimming and leisure in Michigan, with adults using a simple float in an unidentified lake setting.
Research note: Adult faces are visible, so likeness review may be needed; no logos or private property are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from depicted-person rights.
Research search match: Searches such as 1961 Michigan lake swimming home movie, 8mm adults in water, orange float swim cap, and vintage summer recreation match this clip.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other Michigan 1961 lake footage, then broader 1960s summer swimming or family outdoor recreation material.
