Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s Michigan home-movie footage suited to documentary or educational edits needing summer lake recreation and water-skiing leisure scenes.
Period detail: The 8mm look, dark swim trunks, open lake setting, and tree-lined sandy shore support a 1961 Midwestern vacation or lakeside recreation context.
Home-movie behavior: A home-movie camera watches an adult man water-ski across the lake, emphasizing informal family recreation rather than staged athletic coverage.
What appears in frame: The frames show a male water skier, blue lake water, white spray, a trailing wake, dark frame borders, and a wooded lakeshore with sandy banks.
Film character: The clip carries visible 8mm grain, soft focus, saturated summer color, slight exposure variation, and framed contact-sheet edges typical of amateur film scans.
Edit role: Editors can use it as a brief recreation insert, summer transition, family-memory beat, or cutaway for lake tourism and midcentury leisure sequences.
Historical context: The scene reflects recreational motorboating culture visible in home movies, with water skiing shown as a casual lakeside pastime in Michigan.
Research note: An adult person is visible at distance, so likeness review may be needed; no logos or private property are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1961 Michigan 8mm water skiing, vintage lake recreation, home movie summer sports, and man skiing behind boat.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with the same reel, then other Michigan 1961 lake footage, then broader 1960s home-movie boating, beaches, and summer recreation.
