Motorboat Pulling Water Skier — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Michigan, USA, in 1961, showing a person water skiing on a calm lake. A motorboat pulls the skier across the water, creating a white wake behind them. The skier, wearing a dark swimsuit, maintains balance while gliding over the surface. The scene is framed by a dark border, typical of old film reels, with visible grain and slight motion blur. Lush green trees line the distant shore, suggesting a summer day. The footage captures the nostalgic energy of mid-century recreational sports.

Archive brief fit: Useful for 1960s U.S. leisure and lake-recreation requests needing brief home-movie footage of water skiing behind a motorboat.
Period detail: The supplied 1961 Michigan metadata and visible 8mm home-movie look support a mid-century recreational setting, though the exact lake is not identified.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has an unstaged family-film perspective as the skier and boat pass across the lake at a distance.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a water skier, tow boat, white wake, calm lake surface, wooded shoreline, dark film borders, and soft distant focus.
Film character: The footage carries 8mm archive texture through grain, dark frame edges, slight blur, muted color, and handheld framing.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a quick insert, transition, or memory beat in a sequence about summer recreation or mid-century family travel.
Historical context: The scene shows recreational boating and water skiing on a wooded Michigan lake, consistent with summer leisure in the supplied 1961 context.
Research note: A person is visible at a distance, so likeness review may be needed even though no logos, music, or private property are flagged in the metadata.
Research search match: Matches searches for 1961 Michigan 8mm water skiing, vintage lake recreation, home movie motorboat tow, and mid-century summer sports footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with same-reel lake scenes, then other 1961 Michigan footage, then broader vintage boating or water-sports home movies.
