Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s Michigan lake recreation footage for documentary or educational edits needing home-movie views of swimming and small motorboating.
Period detail: The 8mm color look, wooden runabout styling, and casual swimwear support the supplied 1961 Michigan home-movie context.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged family-vacation viewpoint, watching a swimmer and then a small boat pass at a relaxed distance.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include calm lake water, an adult swimmer, upright skis or board tips, a wooden motorboat, two boat passengers, an outboard motor, and distant shoreline.
Film character: Soft focus, visible grain, slight color fading, gate edges, and contact-sheet framing give the footage a physical 8mm archive texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a summer-lake insert, leisure cutaway, transition between water activities, or brief memory beat.
Historical context: The scene reflects mid-century recreational lake use in Michigan without identifying the people, exact lake, or occasion shown.
Research note: Visible people and possible likeness rights need review; no logos are apparent, and copyright clearance is separate from personal or property permissions.
Research search match: Useful for searches such as 1961 Michigan lake home movie, 8mm swimmer on lake, vintage wooden motorboat, and 1960s American summer vacation footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1961 Michigan lake footage, then broader 1960s boating and family vacation scenes.
