Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1960s Michigan home-movie footage for productions needing authentic lake recreation, water-skiing, or mid-century American summer leisure material.
Period detail: The red life vest, patterned swim trunks, tow rope, and color 8mm texture support an early-1960s recreational boating scene without identifying a specific lake.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged amateur view of a skier balancing behind a boat as spray rises around him on open water.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a male water skier, red life vest, patterned trunks, tow handle, ski spray, lake surface, and soft 8mm frame edges.
Film character: Grain, muted color, slight softness, and contact-sheet gate edges give the footage a tactile 8mm home-movie character.
Edit role: Editors can use this as a brief insert, summer-memory cutaway, or transition beat for family recreation and lake-vacation sequences.
Historical context: The footage reflects mid-century American leisure culture through a casual water-skiing outing filmed from a personal home-movie perspective.
Research note: A person is visible and likely identifiable only in limited detail, so likeness review may be needed separately from footage copyright clearance.
Research search match: Useful searches include 1960s Michigan lake water skiing, vintage 8mm summer recreation, home movie water skier, and mid-century lake vacation footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with same-reel lake or boating scenes, then other Michigan 1961 material, then broader vintage water-sports and summer recreation footage.
