Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: Useful for early 1960s recreational archive requests needing brief home-movie footage of summer water skiing on a Michigan lake.
Period detail: The swim shirt, patterned trunks, water skis, and 8mm color stock support a 1961 leisure setting without identifiable landmarks.
Home-movie behavior: The clip preserves an unstaged family-film view of a skier balancing, turning, and splashing close to the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include a male skier, red swim shirt, patterned trunks, tow rope, water skis, lake surface, spray, and dark film borders.
Film character: Soft focus, heavy grain, saturated color, gate edges, and motion blur give the footage a physical 8mm home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short recreation insert, summer memory beat, or transition into lake vacation material.
Historical context: The footage reflects midcentury lake recreation through a private home-movie lens rather than a staged sporting record.
Research note: A visible adult face and likeness require review, while no logos, children, private property, or audible music are evident from the supplied metadata.
Research search match: Searches such as 1961 Michigan water skiing home movie, vintage 8mm lake recreation, and 1960s summer sports footage may match this clip.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel material, then other Michigan 1961 lake footage, then broader vintage water skiing or summer recreation scenes.
