Riverside Waterfront Summer Day — Clip Details

Vintage 8mm home movie footage from Colorado Springs, Colorado, in 1974, showing a riverside waterfront scene. The clip features a large, multi-story building with a modern facade, likely a hotel or apartment complex, situated along a calm river. A prominent tree with yellow-green foliage stands in the foreground, partially obscuring the view. The camera pans slowly, revealing more of the building's exterior, a glass-enclosed patio area, and additional trees. The footage exhibits classic 8mm film characteristics, including soft focus, natural color shifts, and visible grain, capturing a nostalgic summer day with bright sunlight and a serene atmosphere.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This 1970s Colorado Springs 8mm clip can support documentary or educational requests for urban waterfront, hotel, resort, or apartment-adjacent leisure views in a summer home-movie context.
Period detail: The footage shows 1974-era exterior architecture, broad window grids, waterfront terrace seating, mature landscaping, and bright leisure-day clothing visible only at a distance.
Home-movie behavior: The clip has the value of a visitor-shot view across water, lingering on a riverside building and terrace rather than staging people or action for the camera.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include calm water, a multi-story modern building, rows of windows, glass-fronted ground-floor spaces, a yellow-green tree, evergreen plantings, terrace seating, and small distant people near the waterfront.
Film character: The 8mm scan carries soft focus, visible grain, slight exposure shifts, color fading toward blue and magenta, and handheld framing that place the scene clearly in physical home-movie material.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a short establishing insert, location cutaway, travel-memory transition, or quiet waterfront beat within a 1970s Colorado Springs sequence.
Historical context: The scene documents a sunlit built waterfront environment in Colorado Springs in 1974, with leisure or hospitality use suggested by the terrace and waterside seating but not identified in the frames.
Research note: People are visible at a distance and the building should be treated as identifiable property for context review, while copyright, likeness, and property permissions remain separate clearance questions.
Research search match: Relevant researcher searches include 1974 Colorado Springs 8mm waterfront building, 1970s riverside hotel exterior home movie, vintage Colorado waterside terrace, and Super 8 urban waterway cutaway.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then with Colorado Springs 1974 exterior or travel footage, and then with broader 1970s waterfront, hotel, resort, or urban leisure material.
