Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: 1970s 8mm marina footage from Salt Lake City, Utah, suited to documentary or educational edits needing a quiet leisure, boating, or waterside establishing shot.
Period detail: The visible small sailboats, simple marina moorings, saturated reversal-film color, and steady home-movie framing support a 1973 amateur-film context without identifying a specific harbor or landmark.
Home-movie behavior: The clip holds on the sailboats and their reflections from a visitor or family filmmaker perspective, preserving an unstaged pause in a calm recreational setting.
What appears in frame: The frames show rows of white sailboats, tall masts, dark sail covers, yellow and green hull accents, glassy water reflections, distant low mountains, and a deep blue sky.
Film character: The footage has visible 8mm grain, soft focus, slight gate edging, saturated blues, and modest exposure variation that read as physical home-movie texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a calm insert, harbor cutaway, travel transition, or reflective memory beat in a sequence about 1970s leisure or inland sailing.
Historical context: The scene documents recreational boating in a western U.S. waterside setting, with the mountain backdrop and still marina water giving useful context without confirming a named facility.
Research note: No people, faces, logos, or readable markings are visible, but copyright, location access, and any vessel or marina property considerations should still be reviewed separately.
Research search match: Useful search matches include 1973 Salt Lake City sailboats, 1970s 8mm marina, vintage home movie boats on calm water, Utah sailing footage, and sailboat mast reflections.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent shots from the same reel, then other 1973 Salt Lake City or Utah footage, and then broader 1970s boating, marina, mountain lake, or summer leisure material.
