Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit

Useful for 1970s documentary or educational edits needing visitor-shot 8mm footage of Salt Lake City religious landmark architecture in the American West.

Period detail

The deep blue color rendition, soft 8mm texture, and metadata-supported 1973 date place this as early 1970s home-movie footage of the Salt Lake City Temple exterior.

Home-movie behavior

The framing through a dark window or structural edge gives the clip the feel of a tourist pausing to record an imposing landmark from a partial, casual viewpoint.

What appears in frame

Visible elements include pale stone Gothic Revival towers, multiple spires, a gold-topped central figure, crenellated roofline details, round openings, a clear blue sky, and dark vertical window edges.

Film character

The clip carries a physical 8mm look with visible grain, soft focus, dense blue color, slight exposure variation, and gentle handheld instability.

Edit role

An editor could use it as a brief architectural cutaway, location-establishing insert, travel-memory beat, or transition into material about Salt Lake City or religious landmarks.

Historical context

The footage shows the temple as a prominent built landmark viewed from outside, reflecting how visitors documented civic and religious architecture during home-movie travel in the 1970s.

Research note

No people, faces, logos, or audible music are indicated, but users should separately assess copyright in the footage and any property or religious-site permissions needed for their use.
