Utah Intro Banner — Clip Details

Vintage 1973 home movie footage from Salt Lake City, Utah, USA, featuring a classic title card with bold black text reading 'UTAH' over a scenic desert landscape. The image shows rugged red rock formations under a vibrant blue sky with fluffy white clouds, characteristic of Utah's iconic scenery. The film exhibits natural grain and slight color fading typical of 8mm home movie stock, with a soft vignette border framing the shot. This nostalgic intro serves as a visual identifier for a personal travel memory or regional documentary, capturing the essence of mid-20th century American home cinema.

Archive Intelligence

Archive brief fit: This 1973 8mm clip fits requests for a Utah travel-title insert or regional identifier in documentaries, museum programs, education edits, and period home-movie sequences.
Period detail: The bold printed word UTAH over red rock scenery and blue sky supports the supplied 1973 travel-film context without identifying a specific landmark.
Home-movie behavior: The value is in its visitor-made title-card function, marking a personal travel segment rather than documenting staged action or a public event.
What appears in frame: Visible elements include the large UTAH lettering, reddish rock formations, blue sky, white clouds, dark film borders, and slight frame-to-frame movement.
Film character: The 8mm scan shows soft focus, visible grain, warm color drift, contrasty blacks, and contact-print style edge darkness consistent with home-movie film texture.
Edit role: An editor could use this as a chapter opener, regional transition, map-adjacent insert, or memory beat before Utah travel footage from the same reel.
Historical context: The clip reflects a home-movie practice of filming or inserting place-title graphics to organize vacation footage around a state destination.
Research note: No people are visible, but the printed graphic and underlying artwork should be reviewed for copyright or trademark concerns separate from likeness or property issues.
Research search match: Relevant searches include 1970s 8mm Utah title card, vintage home movie Utah intro, Salt Lake City travel reel identifier, and Super 8 state banner footage.
Archive pairing path: Pair first with adjacent reel shots, then other 1973 Salt Lake City or Utah material, and finally broader 1970s American road-trip title-card footage.
